Sources of Soy

My daughter and I have been getting sick for years.   After I discovered what my problem was (separate post), we worked on finding out what was wrong with my 22 year old.
We discovered that she is allergic to soy.    After a lot of research, I discovered that many people talk about how good soy is.  Few actually mention the bad parts of soy.

One article which has links to studies conducted: Environmental Health News

There are many articles and studies which show the negative effects.   If one is interested, one only need to enlist the help of an internet search engine. However, for us, it is a necessity not an interest.

Avoiding foods that were plainly labeled with soy was easy.  Finding the foods that didn't outright say "soy" was more difficult.  When we discovered eggs made her sick, more research was done and we discovered that many layers are fed a diet with soy.   We also discovered that it is very hard to find soy-free eggs but we did find some.  Unfortunately, it is online and expensive.  I am looking for a local source.  If I can't find one, I may end up raising chickens.

Anyhow, last week she ate cereal we thought was "safe".   She went to work.  A few hours later she was sent home.  She was quite sick.   She said it was a definite soy reaction.  That is when I realized that if MSG can be hidden so can soy.   I spent almost all day researching what can hide soy and came up with the following list.  Some are obvious.  Some are not so obvious:

Sources of Soy:

Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP)
Textured vegetable protein (TVP)
Lecithin
Monodiglyceride
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
Vegetable Oil (may contain Soy)
Vitamin E (usually made from Soy)
Tocopherol
Thiamine Mononitrate
Edamame
Miso
Natto (Japanese fermented soybeans)
Tofu (soybean curds)
Okara (soybean pulp)
Soya, soja, soyabean (names for soybean)
Soy protein (isolate/concentrate)
Tempeh
Textured Soy Flour (TSF)
Textured Soy Protein (TSP)
Yuba
Natural Flavorings
Artificial Flavorings
Vegetable broth
Vegetable gum
Vegetable starch

Any description that says "vegetable" without saying what the actual vegetable is.

Soy can be in anything.  What some do not realize is that vaccines are loaded with Soy and/or MSG (which is often derived from soy).  There are also medications which have soy variants in them.  My daughter cannot take many medications which includes vaccines, because the side effects are not worth it.

I'm amazed that doctors and dentists don't actually know what is in the medicines they prescribe.

If anyone reads this and can add to the list, please comment and do so.

Update:  while researching a bit more on hidden sources of soy,  I found the following blog post which has good information on soy allergens:
